How a meeting in Australia set the ball rolling. An insight into the founding and evolution of iconec ...
Idea in Australia – Launch in Germany
Olav Liebing, Thomas Neukam, and Matthias Goltz are the three founders of iconec. Each of them bring years of expertise from their work in telecommunications corporations. In 2002, Thomas and Olav meet during a business trip in Australia and quickly realize: the telecommunications industry urgently needs customer-oriented and cost-efficient services.
The idea for iconec was born. With Siemens as its first client, iconec was able to demonstrate its strengths right from the beginning: customer focus, flexibility, cost efficiency, and the highest quality. Back then, they were involved in 3G system tests and system integration tests.
Within just two years, the iconec team grew to 35 employees. Major clients such as Alcatel-Lucent, Nortel, Nokia, and E-Plus followed in the early 2000s. With in-house projects like the 5G campus network lab, launched in 2022, iconec continues to evolve and is poised for growth in the future.
As a provider of network and telecommunications solutions, iconec operates throughout the entire DACH countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) and has its own location in Timisoara, Romania. Today, iconec is already a technology partner of Telefonica and Telekom, and plans to collaborate with all major network operators in the future.
