Enterprise Campus Network
Enterprises have commercial sensitive applications and technical justified needs for deployment of private campus networks. A private network guarantees uniform transmission indoor as well as outdoor. With the help of 5G and Wi-Fi 6.0 (802.11.ax), private networks can be set up to deliver high quality service, secure and fast connectivity. These are one of the key requirements for the integration of the new smart factory solutions (Industry 4.0).
5G enables the connectivity of all the devices in the company premises, even if they are on the move or are located in poorly accessible places. However, not every building can be fully covered with the 5G network. There are applications for, which a local 5G campus network is not economical practicable. In such cases, a good alternative is using a Wi-Fi network. The new WLAN Standard Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is the ideal technical solution for this with its specific strengths like capacity, costs, bandwidth, and secure transmission.
Digital and automated workflow is the basis for flexible production processes and the prerequisite to withstand international competition. For the digitalisation of the enterprises is one of the key requirements, the homogeneous wireless connectivity inside the company premises. With the so-called campus networks, by setting-up a mobile network and Wi-Fi infrastructure, the required seamless connectivity will be available.
Campus networks have already existed for some time. In these campus networks, the exchange of data generally takes place via WLAN and this is sufficient for the current applications. However, in the course of digitalisation, the number of connected machines and applications in the company increases. Due to this reason, high-performance mobile communications networks are required. However, WLAN by itself is not suitable for certain mobile applications, for example driverless transportation systems in logistics or robots that move independently on the company premises. The prerequisite for these applications is a seamless coverage through 5G radio cells with very low latency.
In the future, both the technologies will coexist and complement each other.
EXAMPLES FOR 5G APPLICATIONS
ADVANTAGES OF 5G IN CORPORATE NETWORKS
Independence, own network without depending on third parties
Licensed frequency spectrum for Industry 4.0
Transparency, isolated integration at the enterprises
Security and reliability - 99.999%
Ultralow latency - up to 1 ms
Increasing the area of application - up to 1 million devices per km²
THE OBJECTIVE: A SMART CORPORATE NETWORK
Homogeneous Network Access

A network infrastructure,
that seamless connect everything (wired / wireless and IoT devices) and provides ultra-low latency.
Smart Network Operation

A network,
operation that has a unique and intelligent network management with a simple graphic user interface with access “to everything”.
OpenArchitecture

An open network architecture,
with a flexible business model ensuring investment protection for customers.
5G FREQUENCY SPECTRUM FOR PRIVATE CAMPUS NETWORKS
The Federal Network Agency has allocate for the enterprises the frequency range from 3,7 to 3,8 GHz.
The area of applications includes campus grounds, industrial parks, fairgrounds, parking areas, open spaces etc.
The maximum estimated useful life must not exceed 10 years, but ends by the end of 2040 at the latest. Then there will be again a revision.
FUTURE INFRASTRUCTURE IN CORPORATE NETWORKS
The new infrastructure in the corporate networks will become more versatile, more scalable and enabling more traffic throughput. Traffic streams and data streams will run in real time and “on demand”.
